    Maybach Family Vineyards Amoenus 2014

    Parker (95-97)

“The 2014 Amoenus comes from a western hillside vineyard near Calistoga that is actually cooler than the general area. This wine always exhibits plenty of crushed rock, wet gravel minerality, notes of forest floor, spring flowers and copious quantities ofblackberry and crème de cassis with a hint of lead pencil shavings and pen ink. The 2014 is dense and full-bodied, but with low acidity and ripe well-integrated tannin. It is strutting its stuff, however it should be even better with 5-7 years of bottle age and last 25-30 years. They produce 330 cases of this glorious wine that tips the scales at 14.7% natural alcohol.”

    Michel Rolland MR 2012

    Parker (95)

“This well-known wine consultant produces 250 cases of his 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon at the Alpha Omega winery. It is fashioned from a blend of many different vineyards, including Stagecoach on Atlas Peak, the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane and Beckstoffer To Kalon vineyards. Rolland delivers the goods in this 2012, which rivals his brilliant 2010. A dense purple color is accompanied by notes of charcoal, subtle barbecue smoke, creme de cassis, kirsch, licorice and vanillin. Full-bodied with low acidity, a fleshy.”

    Pape Clement 2010

    Parker (100)

“I certainly underrated the 2010 Pape Clement from barrel, rating it only 93-95+. (Thank God I put a “plus” there!) Having tasted it four times in Bordeaux, and rating it perfect three times and 99 the fourth time, this final blend of 51% Merlot, 47.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1.5% Petit Verdot is perfection in a bottle. Tipping the scales at 14.5% natural alcohol, there are 8,000 cases of it. Its sublime elegance, the power, the medium to full-bodied texture, the silky tannins, the subtle notes of smoke, lead pencil shavings, black currants, charcoal, camphor, blueberry and cassis fruit are all remarkable. It is a rich, full-throttle wine, but the elegance and the great terroir of Pape Clement come through in abundance. It is slightly more developed and evolved than the 2005 was at a similar point in its evolution, but it certainly needs another 5-7 years to develop further nuances, which it surely will. This wine will last 30-40+ years. Kudos to proprietor Bernard Magrez, who has built an empire based on high quality more than any other characteristic.”

    Pingus 2004

Parker (100) “In the wonderful 2004 vintage, owner/winemaker Peter Sisseck has outdone himself. The 2004 Pingus comes from 100% estate vineyards, biodynamically farmed. It is 100% Tempranillo and is aged 18 months in new French oak. It offers more of everything from its splendid nose of cedar, smoke, charcoal, blackberry, and blueberry to its thick, super-concentrated, and layered mid-palate. The tannins are totally concealed and the pure finish is remarkably long. The wine deserves at least a decade of cellaring and should drink beautifully for 25 years thereafter.”

    Pingus 2009

    Parker (97)

Outer quote mark The 2009 Pingus was released last year, but it should still be pretty available. It was harvested on October 5 and 6 under perfect conditions. It is a powerful and concentrated vintage for Pingus. I’m amazed at how much the wine integrated with one extra year in the bottle – the aromas are more precise, starting to reveal the true personality of the wine. The nose is very perfumed and balsamic, with notes of violets and ripe, juicy fruit, quite high-pitched. The oak is well-integrated into the wine. The palate is very powerful, full-bodied, concentrated but balanced, and wearing its 14.5% alcohol lightly, in a very difficult combination of power and elegance, with abundant but silky tannins. Very long aftertaste. 5,600 bottles were produced. Drink: 2015-2035

Sine Qua Non Raven Syrah 2006

    Parker (96)

“The 2006 Raven Series Syrah, a blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Grenache, and 2% Viognier that spends just under two years in French oak. Offering a dense purple color, gorgeous fruit, and a sweet perfume of graphite, blackberries, blueberries, charcoal, licorice, tar, and new oak, it is a dense, full-bodied, well-endowed, beautifully layered, pure Syrah that should drink well for 10-15 years.”

The Debate Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper 2012

    Parker (95)

“The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard exhibits more chocolate, graphite, forest floor and earthy notes as well as plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel, striking intensity, and a profound, majestic, skyscraper-like mouthfeel. It is another remarkable effort from this Beckstoffer-owned vineyard. Just so you know, if Andy Beckstoffer does make Forbes’ billionaire list, he will have made it the hard way – he will have earned it. Look for this distinctive, earthy, Graves-like Missouri Hopper to age well for 15+ years.”

The Debate Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper 2013

    Parker (95+)

“The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Missouri Hopper, which comes from another Oakville Beckstoffer Vineyard, is spectacular. Opaque purple in color, the wine offers up notes of white chocolate, blackberry and cassis, some subtle background oak, rich, foresty notes, a full-bodied, opulent texture, and terrific purity and overall harmony. It is young and tightly coiled, but this is a stunner that should evolve beautifully for 25-30 years.”
