Robert Parker (91-93) “Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2015 Esquisto is another winner from Paul that should represent a terrific value. Made from two-thirds Grenache, one-third Mourvedre and a splash of Syrah, from yields of basically nothing, it reveals a ruby/purple and borderline opaque color to go with tons of kirsch, strawberries, incense, spice and floral aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, supple and nicely polished, with tons of fruit, it should hit the ground running and have 7-8 years of prime drinking.”

Jeb Dunnuck (92) “Made from 65% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and the rest Syrah, the 2015 Esquisto has a peppery, spicy, red (and some black) fruited style that’s reminiscent of a Gigondas from the Southern Rhone Valley. This medium to full-bodied beauty picks up weight and depth with time in the glass, has notable complexity, ripe, yet present tannin, and a great finish. It has Cali fruit, yet the Gigondas comparison is even more evident with air, and it has a nicely structured, spice-focused style that’s just a joy to drink.”
